Hi, I've got the same problem and I've got the same receiver, Yamaha RX-V350. Coincidence? I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and VLC 2.0.1. For me the problem occurs when I jump, seek or unpause, but not when starting to play a video. There's like (very roughly) a 2/3 chance that these actions will induce this...
