Can VLC rotate a video and save the video rotated?

If so, would someone please be so kind as to point me to a FAQ or directions on how to save a video that's been rotated? I can view the video in the proper orientation. Just can't get it saved in the proper orientation. I'm currently using 2.0. Thanks.

Filters do not apply to record.
Does this mean that VLC can not rotate a video and save it rotated or that I'm doing it incorrectly? I can view the video in the proper orientation.
