Is it possible in VLC to resume video from the point it was stopped the previous time?

If No, why not add such a feature?

My OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
VLC Media Player 2.0.8 Twoflower

I tried with sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install vlc command. It says i've the latest version installed on my system!!

..not only this url, but it is the same with many others. I tried with several items, and the same error message is displayed corresponding that url. Other Internet Services work fine.

While trying to take screenshots in VLC 0.8.5, nothing happens! I've disabled 'overlay' option in video preferences. When I try to designate the folder for the images to be saved, it doesn't take the change into consideration each time I re-open VLC!!
