Re: Problem capturing video from VHS tape

Not sure then. It worked for me. Can you downgrade to 2.1.6 (I am using Linux Mint 17.3 and vlc2.1.6)?

Re: Need CLI help with recording VHS tapes for elderly man...

Thanks, the the command lines specify the video and the audio hardware and a live-caching otpion.
There is no mention of the --sout and transcoding settings for the conversion.

Re: Problem capturing video from VHS tape

The answer to this for me was to set the 300 ms delay to 5000 ms. It is under Media->Convert->Capture Device->"Show more options".
This creates a 5 second delay before playing begins and the video stall issue goes away.

Re: channels.conf

No offense, but if you want to watch TV you should use Me-TV or use Kaffeine media player.
Me-TV being all that and a bag of chips.

Re: channels.conf

Have you tried Media->OpenFile and then selected the channels.conf file?
That works for me.

Re: Enormous files when recording

The record button has one method of recording - use the original codec. If the original video source is RAW then the recorded file is in RAW format, thus the huge files. To avoid this, Use The menu option to Convert instead. Media->Convert/Save CTRL+R. This will use blueray compressions by default o...

Intel i7 Turbo not working

I have an MSI gt660 laptop with an Intel Mobile i7 quad core CPU.
I cannot play videos in sync with the Turbo button depressed.
I have to turn Turbo off in order for videos to sync with the audio.
Can VLC not adjust for i7 turbo which is built into the chip?
