VLC uses "hw:1,0", which you wrote in the VLC configuration (the VLC default is "default"...). And this does not look like VLC 2.0 to me. Ahh .. you're right .. On this box i had to compile 2.0.1 from source (since 11.04 doesn't have a packaged version :(), but when i was doing ...

Config option to disable volume adjustments

A simple feature I'd love to see is a configuration option to disable the volume controls (lock it to 100%). Why? To ensure that digital bit perfect output is preserved. I believe that it is possible to configure bit perfect output in VLC (so that DTS etc works), but the volume must be fixed at 100%...
