urgh worked once and now keeps crashing even when i delete the pref files. reverting to older version

Ah, no I didn't delete those files. Seems to work perfectly now, thanks a mill, glad I can use the latest version.

Hi, as soon as a file starts opening, VLC just shuts down. -there is no crash report generated, sorry -I have deleted my VLC preferences - makes no difference I wonder if this might be because I am on an older OS? 10.5.8.
