I finally found these in 'Tools - Preference' and checked them too. I still can't play my old files.

I've read a post saying he has checked the boxes and his 2.0.1 can now play his old files. What boxes will I check? Where can I find these boxes?

Ok , fixed I think, I checked the boxes:
1. Use GPU accelerated decoding.
2. Use system codes if available, for WMV codecs.

don't know about no.2 since it is avi file. but anyway it works fine now. thanks.

I've just downloaded VLC 2.0.1 to replace VLC 1.1.11. I couldn't play any of my video files anymore because its pixelated all throughout. I've reinstalled VLC 1.1.11 and it plays my video files fine as usual. I've uninstalled and reinstalled VLC 2.0.1 several times with the same undesired effect.
