I finally got it to work, the solution was: preferences->video->output->Direct2D video output every HD video works fine in this mode,even HD IPTV working fine, like it was with 1.1.x. Just installed and tested it ... Same issues, played around with all settings (gpu acceleration, built in codecs for wmv, threads and file-caching for ffmpeg, no luck. Just to add my 5cents. I've had issues with vlc 2.0 and HD1080p videos. Tried with videos in wmv and mov containers, same results, it would play 1 frame per minute while the sound played ok.
