Re: VLC Android subtitles cause video to stutter/ drop frames

Found out this topic. FYI, I have Philips Android TV (43PUS6412) and have the exact momentary frame drop at the time of when subtitle content is rendered. Using latest VLC version. Note: Turning off hardware acceleration in settings did NOT help about the drop. It just helped about distorted and ugl...

Garbled menu with 3.2.11 (Android TV)

Hello. I used to have VLC player on my Philips Android TV without any problems until 3.2.11. The menu and its items are getting garbled when I navigate up and down then they get distorted. Playbacks are fine. Adding screenshots here. https://i.hizliresim.com/ycvd9n.jpg https://i.hizliresim.com/r3KWm...

Re: Remove context menu

Just out of curiosity: you have context menu even if you deselect the option to have context menu during installation?
Second that. I am pretty sure that the context menu shell integration option was present in setup eventhough you do NOT associate extensions VLC as default player in Windows.

Re: Solution for VLC 1.1.10+ showing ChineseSimplified subtitles

Not directly related to subtitles, but I came across that thread that mentions about strange Chinese characters so I wanted to jump in here. I had a problem a few years ago almost with the same build version creating Chinese registry entries when certain VLC functions are ran, like streaming, captur...

Re: Chinese Characters in Registry

I just discovered almost same problem with one of my old VLC builds (1.1.11) on my old computer, containing Chinese extension under FileExt registry key, which appears to be created WHEN I started a desktop capture session via VLC, containing the filename of this capture, resulting in a Chinese exte...

Seeking is distorted if GPU Acceleration is enabled?

Hi guys, Using old GTX460M with R310 Nvidia drivers along with VLC. Just noticed, if GPU HW Acceleration is enabled, and if you do some seeking on the videos such as MP4 (AVC/Youtube) files, the video continues to play beginning from the new seeking position with distorted/pixelated display just for...

What about lost frames?

Hi all, Using VLC for many years, i'm really not sure why `lost` frame statistic is collected on a monster PC. Here are my specs: I7 740QM Quad-core 6 GB RAM GTX 460M 1.5 GB GPU with 314.22 stable driver. Win7 x64.... I can open and play files very smoothly and monitor the resource usage of GPU via ...

Re: Definite reason for YUV to RGB bug for Nvidia cards?

its not a bug its a setting in nvidia driver causing the wrong colors with vlc http://wiki.videolan.org/VSG:Video:Color_nVidia (btw: nice to see my screens are used in the vlc wiki :-) ) nvidia driver uses limited color range (16-235) per default this was the right setting for old crt screens tft, ...

Definite reason for YUV to RGB bug for Nvidia cards?

Hi guys, I found out recently that most of videos i have are much brighter and looks worse with VLC when compared to Windows Media Player 12. The reason seems to be the "hardware YUV to RGB conversion" for Nvidia cards, and i turn it off, the picture looks much better and so close to what ...

I recently installed VLC and really like it, but I decided to fire up a video in both VLC and WMP12. WMP12's contrast looks much better. Fraps video playcak with VLC!

Hi guys, I captured a few 1080p sized, 30 and 60 fps videos using the latest version of Fraps, which encodes video using Fraps's own codec The problem is, though Windows Media Player 12 plays the file just fine, whereas VLC's playback is extremely choopy. Re: Opening Dvds takes ages with Vlc!

Didn't work even with menus disabled (dvdsimple).

I saw exactly same problem on this forum posted a year ago and on other forums, mentioning the same hugely slow dvd loading problem with no solid answer.

Other players open just fine and very quickly.

Any ideas?

Opening Dvds takes ages with Vlc!

Hi Guys, I have a few genuine brand-new Dvd-movie discs. But when i try to open them with Vlc, most of them are opened after 5 minutes of buffering whereas Wmp 12 opens them just fine and instantly! What is the reason? The default caching duration is set to 300 ms, should i change it? It's not a rea...

I have the almost same problem. When i open a Dvd disc with Vlc, menu button colors (and especially when hovering and highlighting them) gets corrupted, damaged with purple, pink colors! Don't say it's my problem because Wmp 12 shows just fine with no color corruption in menus. What's the fix and ha...

And i couldn't find mp4v on gui interface while selecting video codec. Selecting mpeg4 fails with no error. That's why a screenshot would be really nice including recommended version. (I also tried with 1.1.9)

Yes. Use the mp4v as a vcodec param
Can you elaborate this? I need to do the conversion via Vlc Gui, so a screenshot is appreciated.

I want to play Mpeg4-based Avi file on my standalone Dvd-divx player which is transcoded from Mp4 (Avc).

Hi,
I know Avi container isn't fully supported but i still see 'avi' as encapsulation container in transcoding settings.

So i Just want to convert my Mp4 (Avc) videos to Xvid or Divx using Vlc. Is that possible?

Which recommended settings should i care for that conversion?

Thanks!

Re: Distorted / bad audio when playing mp3

Isn't there someone to explain the problem.

Further info, if i set audio output module from default to wave32 out, it really improves audio quality. But still confused why WMP plays with no problem.

Brand-new notebook with fresh VLC installation, really disappointed.
