Ok you are right its the shitty intel driver i disabled the card completely, left the nvidia and played the video again and i can see it no problem...
it does suck that i can`t update the intel driver...

Never mind, I solved the trouble by opening some audio files and shirinking the window size to the minimum.

Is there a way to make VLC ignore hidden .png images? I previously had a problem where VLC would show the wrong cover art at random, and deleting all these hidden files fixed the problem, so having a way to disable this would be helpful.
