Recently I tried using VLC for playing mp3s. I was previously using WMP mainly because it provided some nice visualizations. These are vids I've downloaded with .mp4 extension. I don't know how to tell which codec they are using. Latest VLC version 2.1.2 (but this has happened with previous version of VLC too).

When playing a lot of my mp4 vids I get pixelation when moving the slider. Seems the player takes a few seconds each time to catch up and during this period the whole screen is pixelated. If I convert said video to avi, I get no pixelation at all during moving the slider.

Does this plug in still work with the latest 2.1.1?

I really like this new version especially the sound (first version I've used where pausing didn't produce a little sound stutter). There are issues with it though. I'm getting some crashes with this one. Specifically when watching a vid and then clicking just in front of the moving slider to advance...

Thanks for posting that. The plugin works perfectly in 2.1.0. Works in all videos I've tried so far. Very damn nice.

It must be harder to do than that or one would think it would have been done already. I know it's a pretty important feature for me cause a lot of times I don't watch a movie all the way through (watch all my movies from hard drive) and it's really nice to be able to go back and watch it from where ...

So it's been two years since last post and VLC still does not have the remember feature. Is it ever going to happen?

Well I just accessed this forum reply through IE and it displays a similar warning. No other forums I go to display this. This forum's management might want to get that looked at as a lot of people getting that message would get scared away.

I responded to one of my posts and when trying to do so I get this big warning on the screen from Firefox that this forum is unsafe. I had to disregard the warning to get here. Why is this?

I'll answer my own question. I installed VLC 2.0 and during the install there was a message saying I had VLC already installed and it asked if I want to un-install the previous version. I clicked no and I installed VLC 2.0 over VLC 1.1. No problems thereafter.

I'll answer my own question as I just installed VLC 2.0. Yes they do.

I am currently using VLC 1.1 (Windows 7 x64). If installing VLC 2.0, does it install over the top of 1.1 keeping all settings (including skins) or does it require 1.1 be un-installed first? I see nothing on the VideoLan website that addresses this question (which I think it should).

Thinking of installing VLC 2.0 but I want to make sure of some things. I am using a WMP 11 skin in VLC version 1.1. I want to use that same skin if installing VLC 2.0. Will all the skins still work?
