If I select more than one file to play from Windows Explorer I get a runtime error. No further explanation is offered. Why is this?

Have you checked that the Random feature is not switched on? It's the last icon at the bottom of the playlist screen and toggles between modes.

If, for example, I select four MP3 files in Explorer and right click to play with VLC, only three get played, even though all four are shown in VLC. Why is that?

I'm running Windows Ultimate X64 and the latest version of VLC.

Yes, I'm sure it will. However, reading through this thread I've yet to see an acknowledgement that the problem is product-related rather than an issue with a user's setup. VLC is great software, which I recommend to my clients, so I'm keen to know if any progress has been made in finding the cause ...

I'm not using VLC until this problem is fixed.

I'm also having this problem. I have Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium SP1 and listening through Soundblaster Tactic Wrath headphones (driver V1.1.1.2).

I didn't have this problem until I upgraded to VLC 2.
