Re: VLC builds for Linux

Riiight... And the dependencies, like libc and gcrypt? Ok, so we simply put an install-vlc script, so that the users can simply run that which just copies everything in /usr and the like. EDIT: Nope, it doesn't. If vlc is built normally, it will search for everything in /usr and the like. So I gues...

Re: VLC builds for Linux

I am a complete n00b, so please correct me if I am wrong. Compiling VLC statically is way more difficult than Firefox. And we have no time to support that. Patches are welcome... Why compile statically? No need for static build. Make a list of the files that exist in the folders such as /usr, /bin, ...

At present, we have VLC builds for Windows and OS X, and we rely on external developers for Linux builds. Can we have Linux builds too? We needn't make packages for every distro. Just as Mozilla does with Firefox, can't we just compile VLC + dependencies and put the whole thing in a tarball containi...

Re: VLC 2.0 doesn't produce video output

OpenGL? VLC hanged badly, very very badly. I had to to a hard reboot as no program (even Task Manager) worked.

No logs could be collected for the same reason.

Re: VLC 2.0.0 shows no video-output on Windows XP

Reset VLC settings by removing %appdata%\vlc folder. How ıs the above done please? Press Winkey + R. In the dialog box that appears, type "%comspec%" (without the quotes). A command prompt window opens. In the window type the following: del /Q /S "%appdata%\vlc" This will delete...

Re: VLC 2.0 doesn't produce video output

DirectX : better quality but eats ~=80% CPU
Windows GDI : worse quality but eats ~= 60% CPU

For some reason unknown, the videos appear too dark, and VLC consumes a lot of memory and CPU (these 2 problems weren't there in 1.1.9)

VLC 2.0 doesn't produce video output

Upgraded to VLC 2.0 today, only to find that it wouldn't produce video output. It doesn't properly show the graphical parts of a movie, or display visualisations .It plays audio files or the audio parts of a movie normally, though. For example, on playing a MP4 file, this is what I get: http://img19...
