*edit: just tried with 2.1.0-git-20120228-0009 Rincewind and subtitles are working.

No, in fact 1.1 runs perfect. No stuttering from the audio resampling, no brightness issue and working subtitles.

Subtitles distorted in 2.0
VLC can't display subtitles since version 2.0. The video title from the OSD on start is readable though.

Videos that VLC 1.1 was able to play smoothly were stuttering in 2.0, removing the libsamplerate_plugin.dll fixed this for me. However performance is still worse than in 1.1 and 2.0 does not display a true black anymore with the default video output.
