Re: Controlling VLC in ncurses Interface via Command Line

Yeah I think this is more of a Java problem than a problem with what I'm doing in VLC... None of what I'm outputting from my Java app is getting a response from VLC even though I can still type in input manually that works while it's running. Anyways I am using the rc interface, I'll just be adding ...

Controlling VLC in ncurses Interface via Command Line

I'm developing an app in Java that requires some simple interaction with VLC Media Player. I want to have VLC run hidden in the background which is why I chose the ncurses interface. While it's running, it's streaming a Youtube video and saving its output as an OGG file with it closing when it's don...

Try using Closed Captions instead, does that look better?

Re: Launching VLC in Fullscreen from Terminal

Btw, the command I'm running is basically: VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC "video file" -f --play-and-stop Thats strange. On my machine, the command "-f" just works nicely. The only problem is that the fullscreen window is opened in the background, and only shows in front after out d...

Re: Launching VLC in Fullscreen from Terminal

Thanks a ton, I got it working! For future reference, this is what I did... I opened AppleScript Editor, used the following, and saved as an application: tell application "VLC" activate end tell tell application "System Events" keystroke "f" using {command down} end tel...

Re: Launching VLC in Fullscreen from Terminal

Thanks for letting me know! I'm launching VLC from another app though, so is it possible to send something to VLC with an output stream to make it fullscreen?

Launching VLC in Fullscreen from Terminal

Hi, I don't seem to be able to launch VLC in fullscreen from the terminal. I can open it and it'll play a video no problem, but it doesn't go to fullscreen with either the extra -f or --fullscreen parameters. I have to manually click the button. It is listed in the terminal as an available option fo...

Re: Sharing streams with Apple TV

Sorry about the late reply... The Apple TV we have is jailbroken and has XBMC on it. My dad's the one who knows the details... But he says that anything we can get playing on iTunes we can play on our Apple TV. Having said that, I want to be able to stream my screen, and have a specific URL that I c...

Sharing streams with Apple TV

Hi I was wondering, if I wanted to play something on my TV with VLC, through Apple TV and iTunes, how would I set up the stream? I can already stream media to a file and save, that's easy for me. I'm hoping to eventually get VLC to display my desktop on my TV. So I know you can stream files via HTTP...
