As for updates to the profile, many people leave their computers untampered for years and years, so there shouldn't be much editing, right?
I think he means editing the profile each time they download and install a new VLC version.

Many times, I accidentally move the mouse wheel, so I wouldn't want to get to almost the end of the movie unintentionally and then try to find where I was watching. :x

Yes, it is. Just create a matroska file with 2 video tracks. VLC will play both of them at the same time.

On a side-note, does anyone know why foreign-dubbed DVDs' audio almost never match the subtitles? The subtitles seem to be translated literally and the audio seems to be dubbed with a more culturally translated feel. Does the foreign language subtitle writer not have access to the dub script?
