Using Mac Mini, M1 Chip, Monterey 12.6, Version 3.0.17.3 Vetinari (Apple Silicon). Without making any changes to the system, VLC no longer opens a video when I double-click on it from a Finder folder. This just started happening. If I close VLC completely, then the next video I click on will open, b...
I think I've solve the problem --- I carefully and thoroughly went through all the settings on my Mac that effect or could effect accessing the external drive with VLC, and with those changes I was able to access the Media Drive with an Anonymous login.
I apologize for being so late to reply. I've just had knee replacement surgery (one down and one to go) and the recovery process is very demanding -- time and energy. If I click on the Anonymous login, I get the same dialog: "SMB V1 Authentication Required The computer (MACMINI-88F0CD) you are ...

I hope it's OK to post this question here. I'm not getting email notifications when someone posts a reply to my question or to a forum I'm participating in. I have screenshots of my setup, but I can't figure out how to include them with this question.
I thought I already posted this...but if not: I uninstalled VLC from Apple TV4, rebooted the Apple TV4, and then re-installed VLC. It now plays the MP4 files, but the opening menu now has a number of "network" server options, including a couple that are duplicated. While VLC is now working...
I’m using the recently updated VLC with Apple TV4. I’m able to connect the TV to my network and to my external Media drive where my videos are stored. However, when I try to open a video file (usually a MP4), it won’t open or play. Is there a setting(s) that needs attention or is there another probl...
What's "imgur"? The issue seems to be the Apple TV VLC app can't find the external drive connected to my Mac Mini... I have Sharing via WiFi turned on and this is what the VLC TV app finds: Network THEJONAS-NETWOR (note: I think this is our local network) FIle Servers (SMB) MACMINI-1E582E ...
I very much appreciate your help and I apologize for being so dense. How do I send you or post a JPG so I can show you what I'm seeing on my Apple TV (VLC) and my File Sharing set up?
I’m using a Mac Mini, late 2012, Catalina, Apply TV4 connected to a Vizio TV. I have an external drive connected to the Mac where I keep all my media files. The Mac is on a local network (Ethernet and WiFi). I want to stream the films from the external drive to my TV — VLC is asking for the URL and ...
If I open a video I've downloaded and need to change the aspect ratio, how do I make that change permanent for that video so that when I open it again I don't have change the aspect ratio again? Thank you very much.
I use MacOS, Apple TV4. I've been using Plex, but I'd prefer VLC, but is there a way with VLC to capture and display movie information such as Synopsis, Director, Actors, etc., as you can with Plex?
Using a Mac Mini, Mojave, with an external Media drive. When I try to set up VLC with my Apple TV4, I only get a message that the library is empty. I had VLC set up before the last update, but now I can't get it work with Apple TV.
Are there specific, easy-to-follow directions somewhere?
Similar problem -- I’m using a Mac mini, Mojave, and an external media drive (where my movies are kept). VLC on my Mac is up-to—date. I’m also using Apple TV for streaming. I’d set up VLC before, but then I had to replace my hard drive, and since then, I can’t figure out how to get VLC to stream to ...
I'm using VLC 3.04 with Mojave (Mac Mini) - I want to use the Audio Visualizer, but the display is far too large. I've reduced it as much as it will go using my cursor - is it possible to reduce the screen to something less intrusive?
Also, how do I add a screenshot to show the issue?
I'm using VLC with Mac Mini. I know this is a basic question....but... When I resize the video screen, then pause the video, and then exit, when I reopen the video it does NOT open in the same screen size as I paused it (and I have to reset it again). Is there a setting I'm not using correctly that ...
I'm using the current version of VLC, and I want to be able to reopen a video I watched before so that the window is automatically the same size as when I watched the video earlier. Is there a setting the does this (I thought pausing the video before closing it might do that, but it doesn't seem to)?
Please excuse how basic this question is but I'm using VLC 3.0.1 with a Mac Mini and Apple TV4. Does VLC grab metadata for videos/movies and display it with the movie listing (like Plex or iTunes), and if so, how do I set that up?
Using VLC with El Capitan. I know how to change a video's aspect ratio...but is there a way to do that, for a specific video, and keep that ratio? When I change the ratio to a correct one, it doesn't hold for that video if I close it and then later re-open it.
I'm using the current version of VLC Media Player (MAC), with Yosemite. I know how to change the Aspect Ratio of a video, but I can't find how that change can be made permanent so that I don't have to reset it each time I open the video. I've tried clicking on the desired ratio then on Lock, but tha...
Is it possible to hard-code subtitles and export the video using VLC? I want to add subtitles (hard-coded) so I can burn a video to a DVD. If it's possible, please tell me where to find the instructions or how to do it.
