Howto bind foot switch to VLC?

Hi, I got a USB foot switch which I like to use to control VLC's start/stop and other functions. This works fine as long as the focus is on VLC, but I like to use a word processor on the side to record things about the movie I watch. How can I get the commands from the foot switch to go to VLC inste...

Re: Howto disable showing of filename in batch mode?

Thanks, no-show works. Didn't find that option in the Wiki, Sorry.

I still don't know how to tell VLC to continue with the next video. Any idea?

Howto disable showing of filename in batch mode?

I have created a windows Batch file with this content: C:\Programme\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe file1.mov file2.mp4 --fullscreen --quiet --play-and-stop Despite the --quiet option the filenames are displayed at the beginning of the video. The --play-and-stop option doesn't seem to work either. VLC stops an...

Howto omit minimizing of player between playlist items

I like to show a couple of short videos in a sequence. This works fine with the playlist, exept that VLC minimizes itself at the end of one video and maximizes itself again at the begining of the next. That makes for a disturbing flickering between videos which I like to prevent. Is there a way that...

Offer option to save playlist from view playlist window

Congratulation for the new VLC! It is a joy to work with this program. May I suggest one little improvement, which would have saved me an hour of searching: I had created a playlist and wanted to save it. Naturally I looked for the option in the View; Playlist window. Neither in Google search nor in...

Re: Assertion failed! File vm.c Line 1742

Well, I have seen that assertion again. This is the situation: I have created an image with Pinnacle Studion 10. This can be played with Windows Media Player, Nero Show Time or Pinnacle Media Manager with no problem. When I use VLC 0.8.6c I get said assertion error. Can I help further to pinpoint th...

Thanks, good advice.

It's a bit strange that they built a DVD drive in a laptop that isn't up to par.

At least I know what to expect.

Thanks guys.

Speed up VLC for older laptop?

Hello, I am using VLC 0.8.5 on a laptop with WinMe, 256 MB RAM and a Pentium III 447 MHz CPU. I often experience gaps in video play, where VLC seems to experience buffer underruns. Is there a way to increase cache or other measures to aid with this problem? HD read ahead is set to 100%, CD-ROM cache...

Sound like a machine gun

Hello, I have upgraded to VLC 0.8.5 and now instead of the sound of the video I hear something that sounds like a machine gun. I went back to 0.8.4a, with no change. This is under WinMe on a laptop with 256 MB RAM and a Mobile Pentium III with 447 MHz. I had to install the unicows.dll, but removing ...

Hello, When I tried to play a DVD with VLC and got the error: Assertion failed! Program: C: ... vlc.exe File: vm.c Line: 1742 Expression: pgcit != NULL I got this with 0.8.5, uninstalled it and tried 0.8.4a which gave me the same error. Autostart VLC on DVD insert

Hello, I had a different program autostart and play a DVD. After removing that program Windows 98 does't autostart a DVD anymore. I have installed TWEAKUI, but that didn't change anything. I also reinstalled VLC (0.8.4a) with file associations enabled but that did remedy the problem either. I have s...
