Re: What is the status of RTMP support?

Solved.

Yup. All my fault. Works as it should in version 2.0.7.

I guess I figured it out for myself in the end, but you know how it is. Sometimes, if you explain the problem to somebody else it gets you thinking the right way.

Forgive the intrusion on the thread.

Re: What is the status of RTMP support?

AHA!!!!! It works as expected in (Windoze) VLC 1.1.11! rtmpdump -v --playpath Masterpieces_64 -r "rtmp://fml.0094.edgecastcdn.net/200094/" -o - | \path-to-vlc1111\vlc - Up pops VLC, announcing that it's playing fd://0 (stdin) and I've got music. So apparently, this is broken in version 2....

Re: What is the status of RTMP support?

your URL rtmp://fml.0094.edgecastcdn.net/200094/ is not complete and some parts of the full address are missing. You need to know the full URL for this command line to work. Thank you; that turns out to be PART of the problem. What was really necessary to get rtmpdump working properly was the expli...

Re: What is the status of RTMP support?

I've got a related question, which, perhaps, I can attach to this thread. Background There is a service called "Music Choice" which streams music. They happen to have one channel which I especially like, called Classical Masterpieces . It's everything I always wanted in a classical FM stat...

Re: YouTube links no longer working

No, I did not! However, after seeing your post, I got the latest nightly build, unzipped only the youtube.luac file, put it in the playlist directory for the build I have installed (which is 2.0.3 Twoflower, compiled July 19 by "jb"), and bingo, up comes my video. I shall now try to save i...

Re: YouTube links no longer working

Uh-oh. Things were going along very nicely, but now they seem to be broken again! This evening, I tried viewing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxe3zBWojR4 in VLC, using the new lua script; and it doesn't seem to pull it down. I also tried the version posted by opello, above, to see if that fixed it,...

Re: YouTube links no longer working

I ran into this same problem; let me re-verbalize what psl said to do, because once I did what he suggested correctly, it repaired the problem for me. I want to explain again just in case someone else needs a step-by-step, baby-food version, as I did. I'm using VLC 2.0.3 Twoflower on Windoze ...

Re: Timed Recording of Stream Fails - SOMETIMES

Results Report Well, first, I can report success: I was able to accomplish my main purpose, which was to capture the recital while I was out-of-town, so that I didn't have to miss it altogether. However, I'm very puzzled by the results I found when I got home, and thought I'd present them for comme...

Re: Timed Recording of Stream Fails - SOMETIMES

Hmm. VLC 1.1.11, when setup on this Windoze XP 32 machine, without uninstalling 1.1.4, but installing it to its own directory, crashes right away when I try to play the file produced by 1.1.4 from that command-line command. However, the command works, just as you mean it to, I believe--in other word...

Re: Timed Recording of Stream Fails - SOMETIMES

Aha! I tried your command-line using VLC 1.1.11 on a Windoze 7 machine, and at last, got a playback of the minute I recorded. So I guess what I must try next is to set up VLC 1.1.11 on the Windoze XP machine I use normally, and see if it plays back the file I created using your command and VLC 1.1....

When you use rtsp://metop.streamguys.net:554/live/metop.stream as the source, do you get a playable file?

Re: Timed Recording of Stream Fails - SOMETIMES

I tried your command--which produced a file but which, when I try to play it in VLC pops up the error "VLC can't recognize the input's format: The format of 'file:///K:/test-timed-vlc.m4a' cannot be detected. Have a look at the log for details." The first bytes of the file are "^@^@^@...

Re: Timed Recording of Stream Fails - SOMETIMES

P.S. I should clarify that I have no trouble recording the stream to a file from that URL when I use the GUI interface and press the record button: everything works as it should, and I am left with an .mp4 file when I end the recording, either in the default directory or, if I specify a prefix, in t...

Timed Recording of Stream Fails - SOMETIMES

I hope somebody can point out what I'm doing wrong sometime today , because I need a solution in time for a real-time stream on Sunday, January 29. I know that on Windoze XP and Windoze 7 I can set up a recording as follows: This works: AT 16:20 D:\[path]\vlc.exe "icyx://stream002.radio.hu/mr3....
