Re: Since VLC 2.1.0 - Issue with Option "embedded video off"

vlc-4.0.0-20200403-0837-dev-win64 seems to have fixed a lot of these issues. It also seems to be ignoring the embedded video setting entirely at the moment and just plays like it's off at all times, which is fine for my current use-case. It would be nice if whatever fixed this would be back-ported t...

Re: Since VLC 2.1.0 - Issue with Option "embedded video off"

I'm having the same issues. I've also noticed that when embedded video is off and Video Auto Scaling is on all window properties are ignored. For example video width and height are not respected. The video window is sized to match the video's size even though auto-scaling is supposed to work the oth...

Re: RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

I was finally able to get the sub selection to work on my web server. There is still the matter of --sout-all not behaving the way you described (for me at least), but for the time being the issue I was having has been taken care of. Thanks for your time. It was a big help.

Re: RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

--sout-all to stream all the ES? And serving the MKV on a natural HTTP server does not allow you, in the client, to select a subtitle? sout-all does not permit the client to select a sub track for me on any of the MKVs I've tried, and I have quite a few.. Tested by connecting to localhost. I'm pret...

Re: RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

And your clients are too dumb to select the subs? Perhaps I'm too dumb. I've attempted to select subs remotely before when streaming an MKV. However, VLC displays no sub tracks when I do this. Edit: More specifically, no sub tracks are listed for the file. Instead the only option is to choose a sub...

Re: RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

No, I mean put all of them inside the mkv. They already are. That's the point. I can launch VLC with vlc -vvv D:\temp\test.mkv --sub-track=0 --sout="#transcode{soverlay,vcodec=h264,vb=0,scale=0,acodec=mp4a,ab=128,channels=2,samplerate=44100}:http{mux=ts,dst=:1337/}" and burn the subs onto...

Re: RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

Why don't you mux the subtitles inside the mkv ? Do you mean de-mux them so that I have the sub files separate of the mkv? I've tried that. A lot of them are .ass format and I couldn't get them to even play locally. I've been looking hard for a media server that supports internal mkv subs, and have...

Re: RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

I'm sorry if it wasn't clear, but that was a legitimate question. Am I able to do that w/ a webserver? Because I didn't think it possible.

Re: RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

I assumed that would be the first response. Yes, it is. However, my problem is finding a way to keep only one version of the file and enable the selecting of subtitles. Can I do that with a web server without making copies? I know VLC can burn a sub track from an mkv during transcoding (my example f...

Re: RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

If false : I've been unable to get this to work. The three most helpful resources I've found are the VLC Docs (the obvious first choice), as well as many posts from this topic and this topic . However it's not made a difference. All that I've succeeded at doing is getting the telnet interface to ha...

RTSP vs HTTP for VOD & help w/ HTTP VOD

I've been struggling for the past several hours to get VOD running properly. I've done a lot of research and I've come to the conclusion that VOD over HTTP just plain doesn't work and isn't supported at this time, possibly ever. First, I'd like to confirm whether that is indeed the case. If true : I...

Re: Audio isn't streaming

That fixed it, but I don't understand. I've been using that for over a week now w/ no issues. I also tried changing the mux to ts (which I prefer anyway), but then it didn't work at all.

Audio isn't streaming

Ok, so all of a sudden my audio is no longer streaming. I had someone else watch the stream to make sure it wasn't just me that wasn't hearing it. I haven't done anything since last night when it was working. Literally nothing has changed. I don't even know where to begin. I realize I've not really ...

Re: Is soverlay not working?

OH well, ty much for the help regardless. It's nice to finally get this figured out. One last thing if I may: How do I get file-caching=300 to work with sub-track=0? In the edit options box the default is " :file-caching=300". I've tried " :file-caching=300:sub-track=0" and "...

Re: Is soverlay not working?

Oh I see what you mean. I can type "sub-track=0" by ticking "show more options" and typing it in the "Edit Options" box. You threw me for a loop w/ the advanced preferences thing. I was looking in the adv preferences for the entire VLC program. :P In any case, it got me...

Re: Is soverlay not working?

Because that's the first sub track. It goes 0,1,2... right? Regardless, until I specified sub-track 0 the subtitles would not burn.

Re: Is soverlay not working?

I finally got this script to work: vlc -vvv D:\temp\test.mkv --sub-track=0 --sout="#transcode{soverlay,vcodec=h264,vb=0,scale=0,acodec=mp4a,ab=128,channels=2,samplerate=44100}:http{mux=ffmpeg{mux=flv},dst=:1337/}" Is there any way to specify --sub-track=0 through the gui? I don't care if I...

Is soverlay not working?

I've spent the past 5 hours trying more sout codes than I care to count, but can't get my .mkv files to stream w/ subs. Is anyone aware of a problem w/ soverlay? Is it working? Edit: I'm using VLC 2.0.3 (latest) Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I've lost a lot of sleep trying to fix t...

@nkoriyama: I downloaded the win32 version of 2.1.0-git and I still have .luac files. I must not be understanding your meaning.

VLC fails to play youtube. Debug attached. NBs don't work.

VLC 1.1.11 crashes on attempting to play YT links. This is due to the lua error I know, but no lua I've tried seems to work. I've also tried nightly builds for VLC 1.3 and the latest VLC 2.x (forget exact version number, but it was whatever was available a few minutes from the time of this posting)....
