Just installed 0.86d and this problem has not been resolved. I was hoping it would have been resolved. J-B is the problem to be resolved or not?

Arite, thanks for the response. In checking preferences I see that it was set as you said. But it is not retrieving the track info. I even disabled my firewall to see if it was blocking but still no track info. I guess now the question is: Is it supposed to retrieve the track info on playing an audi...

Is anyone else having this problem?

Using VLC 0.8.6c when I play an audio cd all i get in the play list is:
Audio cd - Track 1
Audio cd - Track 2
Etc.
Cds played with Win Media player will list the track info.
What am I doing wrong? Or what do I need to do to make it work?

I resolved the problem. I completely uninstalled VLC and removed all registry entries using ccleaner. Then reinstall but did NOT check the option for context menu options. And all is well.

VLC is set to be default player for WAV files. If you open Windows Explorer to a folder containing WAV files and double click a file VLC will play the file ok but then if you click another file VLC does not automatically play that new file. You are correct DJ. Thanks for the info, it does work for the folder and plays the entire folder. Don't see why it couldn't be set up to play just a file tho.

just installed 0.8.6 and there is still no context menu item for VLC. But it is no longer listed in the context menu for recycle bin.
And yes context menu was checked on the install.

When I click on a wmv file i get the following error:

Unable to open 'C:\My Music\MP3s\Wizard.wmv'

this file was playable with 0.8.4a
2 other wmv files come up with same "unable to open error".
also same error with MP3s
OS = Win98

My DirectX is at version 9c

I had installed VLC with context menus checked but just to be sure, I uninstalled and removed all VLC.exe entries from the registry and then reinstalled. Makins sure that context menus was checked. And I still have the same problem in that. there are no context menu entries for VLC for files that VL...

On my Win98 PC, a right click on the recycle bin shows "play with VLC media player" in the menu, but A right click on A MP3 file or a wmv file with is associated with VLC does not show that item in their context menu.
Is this a bug? or how do i fix it?
VLC version is 0.8.4a
