Support for non-standard language codes.

I sometimes play live/recorded files from satellite and there are sometimes "alternative" language codes for audio streams. The two most common I see are ORG and ORJ - both stand for "original language". Also there are mis and mul. When I try to set any of these as the preferred ...

Transcoding playlist of streams

I am transcoding a playlist of streams from a satellite receiver and controlling via a web interface. I have been doing it via the command line on a Linux box and it is working fine. But recently I tried to do the same with Windows, and it fails. If I just open a playlist from the command line, it i...

Re: Delaying stream

With UDP output there is a caching option, but maybe you need http.
Did you try setting the buffer on the incoming stream? Something like "--file-caching=20000"

Re: Live Streaming Analog Channels from TV Tuner

First of all, thanks for answering your own question, many people do not bother... I am doing something similar - transcoding a playlist of streams from a satellite receiver and controlling via a web interface. I have been doing it via the command line on a Linux box and it is working fine. But rece...

Re: No volume control when "Display the output" is used

Yes, but the playback volume is what we are talking about. In 1.x we could adjust the playback volume, in 2.x we cannot (while recording.) I am sorry, but adjusting the playback volume while recording is a normal operation for all other recording applications I use.

Re: Anyway To Start VLC In Minimized Interface View?

add option --qt-start-minimized

If you type vlc -H, vlc will create a vlc-help.txt file with all command line options.

Re: Pick up "dual view" TV stream from Samsung SMART TV

I don't have a Samsung TV, so I am not sure what protocol it uses. But I have a satellite box that I stream from. You can try something like: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://192.168.1.83:9090 to record while watching, "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" -vvv --...

Adjust volume while recording.

In previous versions 1.x, you were able to adjust the volume while recording a video stream. In version 2.x, this function does not work. While recording a video stream. the volume is fixed at the last volume set (or the default volume if vlc is launched from the command line.) For example: W:\vlc-2...

Re: No volume control when "Display the output" is used

this is normal. When encoding you get the reference volume. Actually, it does not use the reference volume, it uses the last volume used. This was not a "bug" in the last version. There is no reason why one should not be able to adjust the volume while recording. The "bug" is in...

VLC 2.0.1 Disable proxy for local net

With VLC 2, it no longer accepts the option "--no-http-use-IE-proxy" - instead, it tries to connect through the IE configured proxy instead of trying to connect directly to the http source. In my case, I am connecting to a satellite receiver which works fine when no proxy is configured in ...

Bring back the --no-http-use-IE-proxy option

In version 2.0.1, when connecting to an http source on a local net, vlc tries connecting through the IE configured proxy before timing out. I use vlc to connect to my local satellite receiver and this is now impossible. If I disable the proxy setting in IE, everything works fine, but I need this pro...

Re: Vote here to have scroll wheel & button vol control disa

Sorry, but when I am in an application, I want it to only control the volume for that application. System volume levels due what they are supposed to do - adjust the volume level for ALL applications. When I increase the volume in VLC, I do not want it to increase the volume of my email notification...

Re: VLC 1.2 disable proxy for local net

Yes, I saw that: "Nobody is ever going to use this if it needs to be enabled." I guess they spoke too soon.

So, how do we fix this???

Is there another way to change this default behavior?

VLC 1.2 disable proxy for local net

I have been trying to test out the latest VLC (1.2pre4) and I have found that it now automatically reads proxy settings from IE settings. However it does not seem to honor the "bypass proxy for local network" setting. According to the docs, if your VLC proxy setting is not set, it will aut...
