VLC 2.2.0 Beta

I like using the latest, so I have been using VLC-2.2.0-beta for a while. The latest update on the beta was 10 months ago, while the 2.1.x has had 5 maintenance releases since it came out. How is the development going? No new beta for so many months. With a lot about UHD/4K lately, I started to thin...

Streaming VLC: Server to Mobile

I am unsuccessful trying to get streaming to work. I have managed to get a connection to my server/desktop running VLC using "VLC Stream & Convert" on my Android phone/tablet, but unable to play anything. Every time I try to browse for files it crashes. Running Opensuse 12.3, KDE 4.10....

Re: VLC for linux will support lossless format mp3HD?

All you need is FLAC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mp3HD#Pros_and_Cons A good read on the subject. Relfects exactly what I think on mp3HD and why we don't need it. http://bfpower.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/mp3hd-or-flac/ and http://arstechnica.com/business/2009/03/new-lossless-mp3hd-format-trades-conv...

Re: Opensuse 12.3 VLC Repository

You mean 2.1 ?
In Opensuse VLC repository there has been 2 version. The stable and the beta.

For Opensuse 12.2 VLC repository
vlc-2.0.5-5.4.x86_64.rpm
vlc-beta-2.1.0-2013012802.3.x86_64.rpm

The latter is missing from the 12.3 repository.

Opensuse 12.3 VLC Repository

Seems someone forgot to put vlc-beta into the new Opensuse 12.3 repository?

Been using the vlc-beta for a while now.
Somehow after my upgrade from Opensuse 12.2 to 12.3 vlc playback is not as smooth as before(when HW-acc is enabled). So I want the beta back.

Re: vdpau & vlc

2 year old post. No one having trouble with HW-acceleration with VLC any more? VLC is terrible with playing HD video. Time seeking is a pain. CPU load is 50-80%. While using MPlayer/SMPlayer with VDPAU is a smooth experience. Seeking is instantaneous, while VLC freeze for 1-3 seconds between seeking...

Re: Increasing performance

I have a lot of memory, isn't there any way I could have VLC buffer the video in memory to make seeking faster?

Increasing performance

Is there possible to increase VLC performance on HD video? While using the seeker on HD video (720p bad, 1080p worse), it is not very smooth like on SD video where seeking is almost instantaneous. As it is now its like it pauses for 1-2 seconds before starting to play after I have jumped forward. So...

Re: Speech volume too low, music/effects OK with AVI files

I have the same problem with VLC 1.1.12, on almost every audio output module.
If I use the output module Simple DirectMedia Layer the sound is good.
