Okay, I found it (in the developers section) but things got worse: now I can't play my old mp4 files anymore: it opens, shows the first frame, but blocks. I downgraded again to vlc 1.1.11 and it still blocks! The interface (buttons) suggest that it is playing, but it doesn't play anything (there's n...

I have this problem too, converting from AVI (from my camera) to MP4.
I did not try other formats and I didn't try other settings (yet), but I lose the last seconds every time.
And VLC 1.2 does not exist. At least 1.1.11 seems to be the latest version...
