Reviving this thread again... It was not possible to just deactivate the subtitles. However, the problem with the subtitles could be solved by just removing every subitle file (.srt) into another folder. Now the movie plays nicely !! Thanks for the answer ! So the message was about subtitles...just shows how little i know ! As for the coding, the ts- files were recognized as mpeg2 by OS X and VLC. I think that it said codec: mpegv in the info-> advanced window. The movie came with .srt subtitle files in the same folder as the .t...

The message that I put in the subject field, is what I get when trying to play a .ts-stream movie, coded in mpeg2 and with 1080p resolution. No video whatsoever will show. My interpretation is that somehow the computer is to slow ( a Powermac G5 1.8 Ghz ???) to play the movie at its original framera...
