Re: Non smooth playback watching .MKV files

Can you post the verbose logs of when these stutterings appear?

Tools->messages set verbosity to 2

Re: Sound choppy

By output I meant waveout or directsound or both.
To have the logs it's Tools->Messages set verbosity to 2 then start playback.

Re: Sound choppy after update from 2.0.4 to 2.0.5

If you use 2.1 Nightlies change your audio output to waveout or directsound in tools->Preferences->Audio save and restart VLC.

Re: Problems opening UDP stream

As I said, yesterday: you should dump the udp stream to a file and try to play it and upload it somewhere for analysis.

Re: Sound choppy

I also had choppy audio with vlc player 2.0.5 on Windows XP, downloaded a non-debug version from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... 0212-0003/ and it's fine now, didn't change any settings.
That's because IIRC the default audio output for XP is directsound.

Re: Sound choppy

I'm getting this choppiness in audio playback too.
waveOut extension output, and DirectX audio output - with no improvement.[...] VLC 205.
The waveout/directsound fixes apply to 2.1 not 2.0.5. To get a vlc 2.1 use the nightly builds.

Re: Sound choppy

Automatic just means mmdevice which needs some patches to work correctly with 2.1 new audio core. It will be fixed eventually but for now waveout and directsound are the way to go for 2.1

Re: How to change a video title (metadata)

vlc won't rewritte the metadata in your mkv. If you want to do that you have to use other tools like mkvmerge.

Re: Multiple Subtitle Tracks in same Language

Depending on the file format, subtitle track can be advertised by the file without actually being present (it is the case in mkv).

The cut is due to the chapter transition... I don't think I can do something about it.

Re: Ordered chapters in MKV files not working properly.

I was asking what happens if you don't reactivate them during the opening. The audio and subtitle selection don't use the same process and the audio problem was surely another bug. What's strange is that the default track language in mkv is english so the maker of the file specifically made it undef...

Re: Ordered chapters in MKV files not working properly.

So you had the subtitle problem in 2.0.5? Does they come back when you switch back from OP to episode? The subtitles of the OP have an undefined language parameter (even they have the name English) which may screw the libvlc selection.

Same error? you mean no cook and no real video? If so you shouldn't even hear the audio. Could you share the complete verbose logs?

Re: Ordered chapters in MKV files not working properly.

I don't know the OSX GUI but verbose logs should hide in Tools->Messages (iirc the logs are already verbose for mac) then open your file and paste here the whole output. You can turn the subtitle on again afterward? You have this issue only with 2.1? Subtitles shouldn't have been affected by my late...

Re: Quality Difference Streaming MJPEG Linux vs Windows

Well 1.0.6 is very old... even Debian stable has a later version. Your best chance is to compile a newer version (like 2.0.5) and test.

Re: When will VLC support AAC audio codec in *.avi videos?

Except when format has limitations like not being able to handle correctly variable frame length (like AAC allows it). It is a lot of work for a, afaik, quite rare combination but if someone has time for that patches are welcome.

Re: Video works in Luggage but not Twoflower!

The file is truncated to a too short size: the first cluster is not even complete and vlc doesn't try to read elements which size is bigger than the filesize to avoid other problems due to a libmatroska limitation. As a result the cluster is not recognized as one and vlc aborts the reading. Edit: La...

Re: LAG issue with FFW using manual handle.

Yeah this is due to a bad handling of new elements by VLC. Get a nightly build from http://nightlies.videolan.org/ to fix that. Edit: You can also keep your current vlc version if you go in Tools->Preferences->show settings = all then Demuxers->Matroska, click use dummy elements save and restart VLC...
