Could you try to increase your http buffering? I've seen similar problems and it's often related to buffering and network perfomances.

The MKV demux has been reworked in 1.2 available as nightly build on http://nightlies.videolan.org/ I suggest you to try it.
Beware it's not much tested on XP by devs.

If you have lighter mkv showing this problem I'm still interested, having files that show awkward behaviours is the easiest way for me to debug it. And yes it seems that XP doesn't like 1.2...

Just to be sure for this log you seeked in the file several time? And what to you exactly mean by "stop" does the screen displays the cone on black background? The last logs looks like a bug fixed in 1.2 but it shouldn't stop the playback, just cause big macroblocking with the sound contin...

please paste the whole log, there are importants information at the beginning too

Your file use ordered chapters. This problem is fixed in vlc 1.2 you can get it as nightly builds at http://nightlies.videolan.org/ If you don't want to upgrade your vlc you can disable ordered chapters in tools->preferences, show settings = all, input/codecs->demuxer->matroska then uncheck ordered ...

Well assuming you are using the GUI then when you set up your streaming there is a text box in the option part, modify it accordingly:

add the "sfilter=logo" in the transcode{...} and the "--logo-file logo.png" at the end of the line with other options

There are so many possible reasons (from vlc's problem to lack of computing power or file corruption)... I suggest you to test vlc 1.2.0 which had some mkv bugfixes and to share some verbose logs (tools->messages set verbosity to 2 and start playback) if the problem is still present.

It basically depends on your mkv file... if it has cues (the verbose logs will talk about it) I suggest you to try 1.2 which has a better seek, if it doesn't you're basically screwed until someone (should be me) fix the seek without cues.

1.1.12 is for linux and mac only.

x264 is an encoder, you don't need it to play h264. H264 decoding is usually done by libavcodec so you should check your ffmpeg configuration.
