OK - this is bizare. I changed a number of preferences to do with video (fullscreen, float on top, skip frames) and interface (show vid in main window, resize interface, native fullscreen) and it started to work as expected! I'm having the same problem.. I have a playlist with a video, then a still for 5 sec, then a video then a still. I am simply trying to get them to play in sequence, in full screen, hiding menu bars ("float on top" I think) - and it keeps putting the vlc main window in full screen over the ...

Was just wondering if anyone had a solution to nawaks question?
I would like to do exactly the same - I can watch, but can not see how to export mp4 with a change in gamma (would like to put the mp4 back onto my Galaxy Ace which takes very dark videos indoors)
