convert to flac : no file duration

3.0.18 (ubuntu snap) I wanted to fill a bug but I could not log into the gitlab When I convert (from wav) to flac, the generated files do not have their own play length embedded (I don't know if it's an attended metadata). When playing these flac files from vlc no time is displayed in the list. When...

Segfault batch converting flac to ogg

Hi Please help me: I had a converting script working (picked and tweaked from wiki ), but today it crashes when trying to compress too huge flacs for my phone (I see 96000 in the log, I'm not sure how I did these braindead files): #!/bin/bash acodec="vorb" arate="320" ext="o...

[solved] Re: How to record A/V 90 degrees rotated ?

in the end all this does the job (unfortunately this is for Windows - but maybe this also works for recent linuxes): "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" -I dummy "in_img_1361.mov(or mp4)" --transform-type=90 --sout="#transcode{vcodec=mp4v(ou h264),vfilter=transform}:std{...

Re: VLC alternative to save rotated

Hi Rémi I can't understand why JB told VLC can't do it then. I didn't ask about anything lossless. I gave a try with my own phone and whatever the autorotate setting was set, only videos caught in landscape orientation relative to the ground will display bottom down in VLC with default settings and ...

Convert Rotated won't allow width smaller than heigth

The ~best~ output I can get is a square W=H frame size, genuine video W/H ratio not being transposed to H/W Setting W>H I get repeated stack of the same ugly/funny nuns frames. Setting W<H I get the same nuns on the right with a left glitchy/blinking/psychedelic column. I'm not sure this was already...

Re: How to record A/V 90 degrees rotated ?

When playing the mov on a win32 latest VLC 2.2.4, the video is not rotated (my ubuntu 14.04 is stuck to VLC2.1.6). I think when people catch a video (or photo) with a phone and they have autorotation disabled, depending on the way they physically hold the phone rotated or not is the reason we get or...

How to record A/V 90 degrees rotated ?

Hi I have similar job to do but the original file.MOV is rotated 90°CCW and was from a friend's phone 1280*720px. I can read it OK when using transformation filter 90°CW, but when following instructions in the link above to re-rec the file, in preferences I can only set destination folder but not ou...

Re: Scripting batch CD transcode to flac randomly drops tracks

I did the job track at once with the GUI. This is not a very powerful laptop. Then trying to run same kind of script to convert the flac's to ogg's, I met the same weird behaviour : some track were not converted. I moved the yet-done flac's to another folder and re-ran the script, which again droppe...

Re: [SOLVED][ubuntu] screen recording through commend line

Hi man This surely isn't an answer, more a question for me : isn't vlc -I dummy the same as cvlc ? Help didn't help: vlc --longhelp --advanced |grep -A10 "intf" # <--how did I find that !!! ??? VLC media player 2.1.6 Rincewind (revision 2.1.6-0-gea01d28) -- -I, --intf <Chaîne> Module d'int...

Scripting batch CD transcode to flac randomly drops tracks

Hi I'm failing to have this job done in ubuntu 14.04 (vlc 2.1.6) I'm afraid this is not a vlc bug (sorry), only my poor scripting skills. I added a sleep 10 in the loop, but it randomly forgets tracks, never the same ones. Any help please ? Here is the script, which is tweaked from the wiki to have ...

Batch transcode problem

Hi guys I'm trying to adapt the wiki tutorial here for my need (batch convert flac to ogg) but I get either white space stripped out file names ... or new line in file names where white space were in input file name. I tried basename with -a too, and/or -z (this last removes spaces) The goal is to g...

Extract a chunk from TS file ?

Hi I recorded from my set top box freebox a file which appears to be a TS file. The recording is far too long and I'd like to cut out the end. I found I can add :stop-time=3755 in the advanced options of the Open/Convert dialog. The original file works as is, so I'd rather not convert it to another ...
