ok - Is it possible to play a 10 bit avi in VLC or something else that is downsampled and one only 'sees' 8 bit.
that would be OK . i would like to see something -- and in sync.
( off vlcForum ...but i have tried ffplay -- no luck --- mostly I wish to know if my FILES are good)

friends, I have made some 10 bit raw yuv avi files. These do not play in VLC. so basically I need to know _ is that because VLC will not play 10 bit uncompressed video and I * may* have made good files but need a player[ if not VLC -what? ] or VLC absolutely will play a file.avi that is uncompressed...

I have the same problem

VLC will not play a file.mov
and the complaint is the video codec yuvs.
so is there a solution?
and alternative?
will mplayer or ....something work?

that is good news -- i wonder can you capture in 16bit audio with the linux solution. reason: on Mac I can only capture 24 bit audio ( i cannot change it - that i can see ...) and I then cannot transcode via ffmpeg - when I wish to change the sample rate. example let's say i have a dv25 24 bit 48kHz...

But what i wish to do is have a command line means...
something i can call from a script
get some specs from the file ( ie; frame size, datarate )
and then , based on findings - do something or something else.

I was wondering can VLC Demux Mpeg 2, Mux elementary mpg2 vid & audio into a program stream and can it concatenate 3 mpg2 program streams together into 1 mpg.
