Re: VLC V2.0.0 won't play ATSC digital OTA TV channel

Thought I would follow up on this. I downloaded and installed vlc-2.0.3-win32 today, and the ATSC behavior has not changed since my last post in March 2012. The error messages still indicate that VLC 2.0.3 is trying to use a “dtv” module instead of the “bda” module it used in 1.1.11. Didn’t know if ...

Re: VLC V2.0.0 won't play ATSC digital OTA TV channel

and does VLC try to resize itself just before the crash? You are the only person on the thread who has mentioned crashing behavior. I simply don’t get any ATSC audio / video, where I did with 1.1.11. I will reinstall in a bit and see if it does any resizing. OH - and your uninstaller is trying to u...

Re: VLC V2.0.0 won't play ATSC digital OTA TV channel

Busy indeed :)

OK, which version of Windows are you using? I was seeing crashes at that point when using Direct 3D. As J-B mentioned, at least it's tuning, so the problem is further along, probably when it's trying to draw the screen.
Win XP Pro SP3.

Re: VLC V2.0.0 won't play ATSC digital OTA TV channel

OK, I uninstalled the nightly and reinstalled 1.1.11. Of course, all the command line ATSC shortcuts I had set up work perfectly. The 2.0.x versions had the adapter card option on the Capture Device tab. In 1.1.11, it was inside the Advanced Options on the Capture Device tab. When I looked in on 1.1...

Re: VLC V2.0.0 won't play ATSC digital OTA TV channel

Please test this build: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/vlc-2.0.0-20120322-1844/ I used 1.1.11 to watch ATSC, and also found it not working in 2.0.1. So I downloaded your nightly build. This is the command line I had been using under 1.1.11: F:\VideoLAN\vlc.exe atsc:// :dvb-modulation=8VS...

Re: Banding in Video

Yeah, I don’t see that option in 1.1.11

This reminds me a lot of something I have seem in the print world: posterization.

My display is set to 32-bit color (Windows XP Pro, 32 bit).

Would upgrading to Win 7 64-bit address this sort of problem?

Banding in Video

I am trying to tweak VLC for playback and live streaming of atsc streams. I occasionally see banding and sharp gradients such as the ones in the following screencap: http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7541/vlcsnap2012012101h35m29.png This is with the setting: Tools -> Preferences -> Video -> Output (d...

Re: ATSC tuning (windows 7 / vlc 1.2)

Any update on this? I have a WinTV HVR 850 and am looking to stream ATSC and couldnt quite firgure this out either. I gave up and just created custom strings for each channel: F:\VideoLAN\vlc.exe atsc:// :dvb-modulation=8VSB :program=3 :dvb-physical-channel=14 F:\VideoLAN\vlc.exe atsc:// :dvb-modul...

Re: ATSC tuning (windows 7 / vlc 1.2)

weezelboy... Do you have streams set up with a playlist? ... we’ve been going back and forth for days on this (ver 1.11)

Re: ATSC Tuning on Windows OS

I mean does it save those parameters to playlist if you use it like that? OK I get it now - you used colons instead of dashes in the command line. My bad. Here’s the playlist.xspf that I get when I use colons instead of dashes, i.e. F:\VideoLAN\vlc.exe atsc:// :dvb-modulation=8VSB :program=3 :dvb-p...

Re: ATSC Tuning on Windows OS

Does it work better if you use :program=3 :dvb-physical-channel=14 ?
That’s the only way it works - one ATSC stream at a time via command line.

Re: ATSC Tuning on Windows OS

I mean, add entries to xspf playlist. So when you have the one channel opened, save the current playlist, then edit it. OK, I started VLC with this command line: F:\VideoLAN\vlc.exe atsc:// :dvb-modulation=8VSB --program=3 --dvb-physical-channel=14 Which streams a channel from the tuner card. I wen...

Re: ATSC Tuning on Windows OS

I am a bit confused as to how to do that. I tried setting up a channels.conf file by hand, but I can’t get any of the channels to play. When I use the command line format, there is the single hard-coded channel in my playlist with the location atsc:// and tons of detail on the codec tab. When I try ...

Re: ATSC Tuning on Windows OS

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1357120 might work. It does! I added those parameters to the desktop shortcut and voila! Thanks! vlc atsc:// :dvb-modulation=8VSB --program=3 --dvb-physical-channel=14 Seems sort of clunky though to have to use a different command line for each channe...

ATSC Tuning on Windows OS

I have been picking through the forums, looking for a way to configure VLC to access my tuner card for viewing. It is a DVICO FusionHDTV Express 5. I have seen bits & pieces scattered in many threads, some referring to a channels.conf file and others referring to command line methods. I am havin...
