Option to obfuscate or fake file name when casting to Chromecast.

Chromecast is kind of suspicious device, it always needs a real Internet connection to work. When casting videos from VLC, Chromecast will get also names of the video files. It can be seen eg. in Android (Chromecast) Home app, Chromecast has got the file name of the video file it is viewing. What en...

Re: Chromecast problem on VLC 3.0.7 on Fedora 30

Trying to get it work in CLI first: So this works. It asks "Casting this video requires conversion.", and when hit OK, it shows OK through Chromecast: vlc --sout "#chromecast" --sout-chromecast-ip=10.240.47.64 --demux-filter=demux_chromecast test1.mpeg It is seen, it used x264 t...

Re: Chromecast problem on VLC 3.0.7 on Fedora 30

I have also Fedora 30, vlc is version 3.0.8 (revision 3.0.8-3-g410bff0959) Chromecast 2. I have both Chromecast and F30-PC connected through same Wifi-AP and the connection itself is working fine. When rendering MPEG2-video, VLC says: Casting this video requires conversion. This conversion can use a...

Re: DVB subtitles stopped working in vlc v3.0 Worked in v2.2.4

It was fixed in rpmfusion (vlc-3.0.0-0.48.git20180109.rc5.fc27.x86_64) but somehow hadn't upgraded yet in my system.

DVB subtitles stopped working in vlc v3.0 Worked in v2.2.4

I recently upgraded from Fedora 23 to Fedora 27. Also VLC was upgraded from v2.2.4 to v3.0.0 Now dvb-subtitles (dvbs) has stopped working. I used to be able to show them enabling from Menu: Subtitle>SubTrack>* in the older VLC. Now vlc v3.0.0 just complains: " Codec not supported: VLC could not...

Re: Viewing RTP/UDP stream with VLC

OK, solved this already: For sending: vlc 'test.m4v' :sout=#transcode{vcodec=h264}:"rtp{dst=224.0.0.8,port=5004,mux=ts}" and it worked. So was missing "mux=ts" WAS: I had the same problem. How to broadcast a valid SDP with RTP sout? For sending, I am using: vlc -vv 'test.m4v' :s...

Re: vlc does not obey advanced settings (video chroma format) given in command line?

I tried without the quotes before, BUT... the problem before was that v24l:///dev/video1 parameter was after the options. When I moved it front (and removed the quotes), it worked as intended and choma-format was MJPG. In the original question I already had moved the stream parameter to the front bu...

[SOLVED] vlc does not obey advanced settings (video chroma format) given in command line?

I manually set up vlc to work with a webcam (Ausdom HD 1080p USB2) from menu: Media > Open_Capture_Device > Advanced_options Shortly, just setting correct device /dev/video1 and video input chroma format to MJPG gets it working good when PLAYed. Then I copy to clipboard active advanced options from:...

Re: Pan Video by clicking & dragging with mouse

I was looking how to do this also, and found this feature request thread. I have 1080P USB2-camera (Ausdom HD), which I am unable to (digital) zoom or pan during the video feed. I'd like to crop, zoom and pan (part of) that 1920x1080p video-image on the fly with mouse. It is very cumbersome to use c...

It has been over an year, but last time I used Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle (USB3) in Windows, I used these settings in VLC: File > Open Capture Device Video device name: Declink Audio device name: Declink Advanced options: Video input chroma format: UYVY Audio: 2ch, 48 kHz, 16 bit (And Intensity Sh...

Re: Where is the config data for http host and port?

Well, I think it is a usability bug, which will make some people skip vlc as a working solution when this happens and vlc cannot be started. I don't know if same thing happens also in Windows if port 8080 is reserved for something else and user tries to enable vlc-remote and this leads to unworking,...

Re: Where is the config data for http host and port?

solved.

I had to change "intf=oldhttp" to "intf=" in the vlcrc so vlc could be started again and GUI preferences can be accessed.
For many users vlc would stay "broken". Maybe vlc should say to stdout one has to fix or delete vlcrc to start with default settings.

Re: Where is the config data for http host and port?

Ok, found it. How to change the port number? 8080 is reserved for webproxy in this machine. $ grep 8080 /etc/services webcache 8080/tcp http-alt # WWW caching service Or how to disable whole http server? There should be a way to start vlc with factory default settings somehow. (Maybe I just have to ...

Where is the config data for http host and port?

I was going to try http remote access to VLC. I configured HTTP-access via VLC's graphical preferences window. Now VLC cannot start and I cannot find where the host and the port is configured so I could delete them or change them. $ vlc VLC media player 1.1.11 The Luggage (revision exported) Blocked...

Has anyone had luck with Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle?

I searched a bit around here and didn't notice anyone trying or using BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle, the USB3-version of Intensity HDMI/RGB-capture card with VLC. It doesn't currently work in Linux at all, because I guess Linux was missing isochronous transfer of USB3 until "recently" (2.6....
