I removed dvdnav and specified path to X 11 libs - still the same issue - help needed! ./configure --enable-x11 --enable-xvideo --disable-gtk --enable-sdl --enable-ffmpeg --with-ffmpeg-tree=/opt/ffmpeg --with-ffmpeg-mp3lame --enable-mad --enable-libdvbpsi --enable-a52 --enable-dts --enable-libmpeg2 ...

I have the libs installed -
# rpm -qa | grep dvd
libdvdread-0.9.4-0.lvn.1.4
libdvdcss-1.2.9-0.lvn.1.4
dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-6
libdvdnav-0.1.10-0.lvn.1.4

do you have to specify the dvdnav lib path also in the config? if so how.

But I did try by removing --enable dvd-nav and was still having the X error.

Feroda 4 or 5 where pretty easy. Just install the OS.

then go

# yum install vlc

(it will get you the latest released version)

If you need the latest 0.8.5 - then you need to sync the latest source code from svn and build it. (A lengthy process)
