No seeking in local mp3s?

Hi everyone. I've downloaded an mp3 from a website to my iPhone but when I open it from the downloads folder with VLC, I cannot seek in it. How come?

Resize/-arrange display icons for handicapped people?

So, one of the inlaws is having issues navigating his songs no matter if album/artists/folder view is selected. I'd need to resize the play/pause and back buttons and if possible place them on the OSD so they are easier to hit on a touch screen. Is this at all possible?

No seeking in ts files played back via SMB?

I've connected a Fire HD7 tablet to my LAN via Wifi and when starting VLC for Android 1.9.10 and selecting local network, all my SMB shares are listed and accessible. However, when I start playback of a ts file from my NAS, I cannot seek during playback, I'm getting "no seekable stream". I...

Set subtitle default to on?

I've just installed the latest Android version on the tablet and while I like the GUI so far, I'm wondering if there's a way to set VLC to play back subtitles by default ignoring the flags of the MKV they're muxed into? Thx.

Audio playback from local network (UPnP) issues

VLC for iOS 2.0.x refuses any audio-only media playback. Basic support was added in VLC for iOS 2.1 along with Music Album handling. Future updates will further improve the current feature set by introducing media artwork display, playlists, playlist operations such as shuffling or repeat, and more...

Re: No TrueHD 7.1 downmix?

D'uh, it has. I didn't realize it because my WDTV played it just fine and Mediainfo did not mention Atmos as you can see in the output I pasted above. So what does MPC-HC do differently?

No TrueHD 7.1 downmix?

I'm ripping my Blurays with MakeMKV (so no re-encoding) for playback on my WDTV, testing the rips on my Win 8.1 PC in VLC 2.1.5. The PC has two speakers attached to the analouge onboard sound and I get sound from pretty much any codec but apparently not from TrueHD 7.1. Is this not supported in yet?...

Re: Consecutive whitespace in SRT subtitles suddenly ignored

I guess I've always considered it a not really specifed plain-text format so when extending it with HTML tags why add condensed spaces which are completely pointless in SRT (and sucked in HTML, like forever)? Oh, well.

Re: 'Language index in use' ignored on external VobSub playb

Thanks but I already know VobSubStrip as well as VobSub Shuffle as a possible workaround. However, I'm trying to eradicate as many steps from my ripping workflow as possible and I also like the convenience of having only one VobSub with several streams I can switch between in case I misheard somethi...

Re: Consecutive whitespace in SRT subtitles suddenly ignored

Where do I find this setting? Preferences > all > search > "rich" turns up nothing. Browsing Perferences > Subtitles/OSD turns up Input Codecs > Subtitle Codecs > Subtitles > Formatted subtitles which when unchecked indeed shows consecutive whitespace but - as the name implies - ignores <b...

Re: 'Language index in use' ignored on external VobSub playb

The ticket says 'not started' though a patch has been submitted 6 months ago. I'm sure there are more important fixes/features but is there any timeframe on when this patch will be included into the main branch?

Consecutive whitespace in SRT subtitles suddenly ignored?

This has changed only recently but as with HTML, VLC suddenly only shows one whitespace between characters, even if the item has more. 1 00:00:02,631 --> 00:00:03,915 T H A T G R E A T S H O W is displayed as T H A T G R E A T S H O W which is quite unreadable. While this may seem cosmetic, there ar...

Uninstall routine attemps deletion from incorrect path?

Just curious, I always install VLC to D:\Programme\VLC. However, when I install a new version and I ask VLC to remove the previously installed version, VLC tries to remove itself from the default dir "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC" rather than the one it's been actually installed to....

'Language index in use' ignored on external VobSub playback?

When you play back MKVs with internal VobSubs that have a certain subtitle stream set to default, VLC displays this stream automatically. This is done by a flag in the MKV. However, VobSubs (idx/sub) have their own default setting stored in the idx file called 'language index in use' that should be ...
