And apparently, a reboot fixed the problem, so...

Like I said in my first post, I tried, but I must not do enough with my computer and every restore failed. Windows said to me something like: "no changes".

In Windows itself or its registry?
BTW, I'm using VLC 1.0.5.

But I don't know if this will do the trick anyway, because now, every video program (some video playback on the net, media player classic) are now alos preventing the monitor to go to sleep.
