I have no problems using clients on my Android Phone, Foobar on Windows, and miniDNLA on ubuntu.

How about VLC on windows? same error?

At least, I couldn't get it work on Windows and Mac... I tried about a month ago, but I forgot why.
Personally, I use 1.6.16 for my build (with modifying contrib/src/upnp/rules.mak).

If you want to play the MPEG-TS file that doesn't have PCR, use Avformat demuxer.
I think both FFplay and mplayer2 use it.

According to the logs, buffering happens frequently.

Did you check the files with MediaInfo?
It tells you if the media file has internal subtitles or not.

Please set video snapshots format to png in the preferences -> Video.

This thread's topic was the problem of auto-selecting languages when playing MKV, not MPEG-TS.

I suspect your MRL format is wrong. Use "file:///C:\Dev\Songs\Dirty_South_Rock.mp3" or "file:///C:/Dev/Songs/Dirty_South_Rock.mp3".
