`A->B loop` not in list of `Actions` under `Configure Hotkeys` -- can't set global hotkey

$ vlc -v VLC media player 2.2.1 Terry Pratchett (Weatherwax) (revision 2.2.1~trusty1) There seems to be a hidden default hotkey for this, shift-L, which only works when the vlc window and specifically the toolbar is focused. But I need to set a global hotkey so I can use it when other windows like m...

Re: Can you export/import customized hotkey settings?

FINALLY! ACTUAL SUCCESS! The actual path for Windows Vista/7 is: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\vlc NOT: C:\Users\%username%\Application Data\vlc\vlcrc Verified by moving the vlcrc file from one computer to the other, and the hotkey settings DID change  Okay, so I opened the file with note...

Re: Can you export/import customized hotkey settings?

Head. Hit. Keyboard.

Turns out it's not there either.

I searched my entire harddrive and couldn't find anything named "vlcrc" anywhere....

Re: Can you export/import customized hotkey settings?

Aha! Is it "hotkeys.luac" that I want?

EDIT: It wasn't; I tried copying it to VLC on my other computer and it did nothing I could see. Then I replaced it with the backup I made, just in case.

Re: Can you export/import customized hotkey settings?

Which is?

I tried searching "preference" in VLC in my program files, but...

Nor does searching the wiki or google for "preference file" easily find the info.

How to use numpad as "media keys" using AutoHotKeys

I just wanted to share this post I made at the AutoHotKeys forum: Control VLC with global hotkeys using the numeric keypad as "media keys" . Unfortunately I don't yet know how to export/import customized hotkey settings , but it's still pretty easy to set up even without that. It's pretty ...

Can you export/import customized hotkey settings?

(I'm assuming this wouldn't be OS specific, unless the answer is something like "they're stored in a file in such'n'such directory".)

So, can you?

I only found one post on the forums about it from a couple years back, and there were no replies.

Re: Remote method to pause and play?

I aint gonna be buying any extra hardware anytime soon myself, but that remote setup DOES sound neat. Anyway, I got the AHK thing working. I'll put it here for the benefit of future me-like searchers. Here's the AHK script code: Numpad0::send ^{Space} NumpadEnter::send ^{Space} Numpad1::send !1 Nump...

Re: Remote method to pause and play?

Ah! I THOUGHT I remembered something like that. The question is how could you use that with VLC... Because if you're using a keyboard with a numpad, that'd be prime place to put one-button hotkeys. Hm, I assume AutoHotKey can see the difference between 'normal' 1 and numpad 1, so I guess you could s...

Re: Remote method to pause and play?

"but you must remove the corresponding entry under the "hotkey" column (immediately to the left)" I cannot see how to remove a hotkey setting from lh (local) hotkey column, I can see how to change it, but to remove it. i can trick the program by a circuitous route - assign a key...

The "clear" button is missing from hotkey preferences?

If you do a google search, you'll find plenty of old references to it and screenshots showing where it should be, but in 2.0.2 on both my vista and windows 7 computers, it's just not there. (Even when showing "all" settings.) And it's the only way to easily UNSET a hotkey, rather than just...

Total at bottom of durations column in playlist

Ah, VLC, so deliciously functional. But you know what simple little thing would make it even better? Yup, you're right, a total at the bottom of the durations column in the playlist. ...How'd you know I was gonna say that? I put it in the subject field already? Oh, right, I remember that. ANYWAY yea...
