I lowered the volume to 100% it it's ok now. Shall I assume this is a bug?

Thank you for your reply Lotesdelere. I'm on version 2.0.1 I had tried the Enable Equalizer with no effect. I turned the volume down to 100% and it's ok now. Shall I assume that the volume having to be at is an issue that's being looked at?

Tried waveout, directx, and enabling equalizer, none of which solves the issue.

I tried as you suggested free_radical, but no luck.

Uninstalled and reinstalled and now it works. I must have done this about 1/2 dozen times. I had even used JVPowerTools 2011 at one point to clean registry.

Something is definitely wrong with this version.

I'm using Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit. I was using v1.1.10 and just upgraded. VLC would flash open and then go straight to taskbar.
