Why are web browsers affected by this security flaw? They decode video, they don't encode video. :?

The patents for MPEG-2 video expired last year.
Decoding of video in MPEG-2 should be free of charge (in hardware) now.

Playlist Cleaner does not do its job anymore together with VLC 2.2.1

It simply deletes all files from playlist.

There was a major update of libvpx a few days ago. Will there be a new release of VLC in near future?

A feature in VLC that I really like to see is to set video and audio effect filter for each file in the playlist separatly, instead of effect filter settings for all files.

Is there already a way or option to do that in VLC?

Ok, but I'm quit confident that a 3 or 4 frame window would improve the quality visibly above every single frame scaling method. What about using a shorter frame window?

Any plans to implement Super Resolution Video Scaling?

That would improve the quality of e.g. podcasts on laptops in fullscreen mode. Bicubic and lanczos scaling are pretty good, but super resulution scaling would be probably even better.

Please add following infos for downloadable installer packages: file size and md5 checksum
I think this would be helpful to protect users from fake VLC downloads from other servers.
