Re: Basics - listening to internet audio

What you recommended seems to have worked, thanks. If I wanted to add other internet radio stations / their streams, such as Radio Caroline and Radio Paradise in your examples, is it a matter of going through the Notepad routine again substituting what comes after the http: accordingly? But I would ...

Re: Basics - listening to internet audio

Many thanks I will try this. I suppose that the idea is to save it in My Music (for example).
Again is VLC all programming-driven rather than by GUI for ignorants? Supposing I wanted to do this for other stations.

Re: Basics - listening to internet audio

Thanks - that is the not-so-difficult part! How do I perform the "simple" operation of storing this stream data (?) in VLC so that I can just click on it under Media-Open File to tune in, as I managed to do in the past?! [VLC won't accept the URL as I mentioned] Is there a VLC user manual ...

Basics - listening to internet audio

The various VLC documentation and FAQ's that I have found all seem to be aimed at developers and programmers, but provide no guidance for the basic user with limited technical knowledge. If there is a very basic "how-to" user manual I would appreciate knowing where to find it. I use VLC to...

Re: VLC does not support the audio or video format "undf".

I saved to my hard disc a track from YouTube. It is listed as .xspf but when I try to play it in VLC 2.0.2 I get the same message as in this thread - that VLC does not support undf. Is there a solution - or generally a way in which to download something from YouTube and listen (and / or view) using ...

Re: VLC for recording audio

Thanks for the tip. The procedure does seem to be rather "haphazard". It is difficult to know if recording is taking place or not, and clicking on the red button has twice had the effect of terminating the broadcast. I then didn't know if I had been listening to the recording or the real t...

VLC for recording audio

I tried before, but failed, to work out how to record from a streaming internet radio station which I am listening to via VLC. I have now downloaded version 2.0.2. Is it possible to record with this latest version (or if not, how is the best way to do this)? It is not clear from the menu system, but...

xspf file playback

I downloaded an audio track from YouTube and saved it in my My Music folder. The file extension chosen by default is xspf. According to what appears to be the settings VLC should be able to play xspf files. However repeated attempts have failed and the message is that VLC does not recognize "un...

Capturing internet radio stations - secret?

If I enter for example http://www.thevoiceofpeace.co.il or http://www.thearrow.co.uk - both streaming audio - into the box under Media - Advanced Open File, nothing happens, but I can get both stations online direct. What is the secret to tuning in to them with VLC, and saving them for future use?

Re: Program self-destructs when streaming audio

Thanks. But I am not "technical" and am unsure how to do as you advise - other than running the usual anti-virus and anti spyware scans. [I had formed the opinion that streaming audio did not put particular demands on the system - may be I'm wrong] >> Is there a program that would do your ...

Re: Program self-destructs when streaming audio

The only evidence I have to go on is that this (shut down) has only ever happened when streaming via VLC, but it is quite common in these circumstances. I do regular virus checks and scans. It is difficult to know where else to start looking next! I am assuming that audio streaming does not put any ...

Program self-destructs when streaming audio

I am running VLC 1.1.11. Mostly but not always I use IE 8, OS = Windows XP Home. I use VLC to listen to "The Arrow" (all rock radio - I recommend it!) on line. It frequently happens that 5 - 10 minutes into a session, in a quite random fashion, the broadcast will come to a sudden end and -...

Store streaming station

I have just installed VLC 1.1.10 but can't get any of the help links / FAQ's to activate to answer the following: 1. I can't figure out how to store a particular streaming station if it's one I want to visit frequently. Is this possible? 2. One of these is The Arrow (all rock radio) but with this it...
