The best way is to get a video splitter, because clone mode on most computers do not duplicate the video feed that vlc produces. However, there is another way to get it to display on the projector. Go to preferences->video->output modules. Enable advanced options and change the module to directx, op...

Random green lines in some video files in VLC

I am running VLC 0.8.6 on OpenSuSE 10.2. I downloaded the VLC package from the videolan repos. In some videos, I get this odd green line at one edge of the video. Sometimes it is on the bottom and sometimes its on the right. When I switch to another output module besides the default, the green line ...

Yeah yast likes to lock packages that you've manually installed or used another program to install it. It should be safe to manually unlock and uninstall xvidcore as amarok does not use it. VLC transcoded files cause error in Quicktime

I am trying to transcode an avi file (xvid/mpga), resolution 640x272, to a mp4 file (mp4v and mp4a) at the same resolution. However, when I try to play the transcoded file in Quicktime, I get a dialog box with "Error -2010: the movie contains some invalid data". The VLC log during transcod...

Converting video files to ipod friendly format

1.) I searched in the wiki and found out how to convert videos to the ipod using the command line. However, the windows command line is extremely cumbersome to use and I want to know how to do the exact same thing using VLC's streaming GUI (not the wizard). 2.) I tried converting a dvd to mp4 but th...
