Why one or the other?
Why not simply have a button and you CHOOSE which you want and it solves the problem for people who do like true SHUFFLE play without bothering people who do not like it.

Add a folder to VLC Playlist... and if that folder has 10 subfolders. And each of those 10 subfolders has 30 subfolders. And each of those hundreds of folders has 20 songs in each of them. Agreed. This should absolutely be default behavior with option to turn off if someone doesn't like it.
Default, let alone not having this at all, it makes zero sense that this wasn't implemented a decade ago.

When you have one song playing and you simply only want to add one other song to be played next... where do you go on the VLC menu to add it, to be played next?

It works when opening actual DVD discs.

It does not work when opening DVD folders on the hard drive.

Media > Open Disc can open a DVD folder on old v1.1.9. This feature has been broken from versions 1.1.10 to 2.0.0 Final.

When fixing this, please consider giving us the option to have VLC also remember the last opened folder even if the program is restarted.

v1.1.9 can do this so the option is to never upgrade. Customers are always looking for new software. This would help them choose VLC, I think that's the only important thing. This bug has not been fixed in the latest Beta version of the program 1.2.0 as of 21 Oct 2011. It worked in version VLC media player 1.1.9 but was broken after that to this day 1.2.0 Beta.

Can you consider fixing it in the next Beta?
