Hi i have a file with 7.1 sound. My soundcard support 7.1 and i have a 7.1 surround audio setting. but when i play the file with vlc , i can only see 5.1 sound
How can i get this to work?

yes i can choose to go for spdif. but spdif doenst supports f.e dts hd and my hdmi connection (through my x fi soundcard) does. so i want to be able to choose the hdmi connection above the spdif to output audio to my receiver. when i set the audio device to 5.1 the tv says it is multichannel sound. ...
