VLC 0.8.6e crash if the remote RTSP server is unavailable

Dear Sir: I have downloaded 0.8.6e to connect a remote RTSP server. VLC crashes in msvcrt.dll after several tens of seconds if the server is down(non-exist at the URL) while VLC of version 0.8.6d doesn't. It should pop up failure to connect or something. I have installed and tested on two different ...

Support multicast for AXIS camera

Dear Sir: Since AXIS camera requires the RTSP client to explicit request multicast SETUP, live555 has added an optional argument 'forceMulticastOnUnspecified' in RTSPClient::setupMediaSubsession() to force multicast. Would you please integrate this setting into RTP/RTSP demux preference inferface? A...

Long-term playing speed seems to slow down

Dear all: After long-term(several hours) playing, the playing picture looks broken and the mpeg4 video bitrate in media info window decreases. Taking a look at the RTCP RR, I found that the loss fraction boomed and never declined. On the contrary, Qucktime is OK without such a problem. After more ex...

Degraded G.726 quality with pops and clicks

When streaming G.726 audio, I heard degraded G.726 quality(32Kbps) with pops and clicks(24Kbps). After a series of experiments, I find out the problem results from the bitstream packing order. According to RFC3551 4.5.4, a example of the packing scheme for G.726-24 codewords follows, where bit 7 is ...

Degraded G.726 quality with pops and clicks

When streaming G.726 24/32Kbps, I found the quality is degraded and unacceptable compared to AWave studio(play the saved audio bitstream). For G.726 24Kbps, the sound is filled wih pops and clicks. For G.726 32Kbps, a young man sounds like an old one. Does it result from ffmpeg? If it does, could yo...

In your example you use NTSC 352 x 240 but the NTSC standard is 320 x 240 and is 4 x 3 or 1.33:1 (you do the math). Also all numbers should be divisible by 16 and in your example 384 is not, so it is unlikely this is a real circumstance. The only thing I could possibly think of is that SAR or DAR i...

Something wrong with the video display width?

Compare to Quicktime7 when streaming/play MPEG4 video ES from an NTSC Camera: If the video source width is QCIF(176 x 128), CIF(352 X 240), 4CIF(704 x 480), VLC always render them with a longer width except Full D1. For example, VLC renders CIF(352 x 240) in 384 x 240 even if the source is from a re...

Where to link CATID_SafeForInitializing/SafeForInitializing?

After reinstalling my windows and Cygwin, I try to build vlc-0.8.5 again. However, this time I fail to build axvlc.dll. g++ -mno-cygwin -Wsign-compare -Wsign-compare -Wall -mms-bitfields -pipe -o axvlc.dll.exe libaxvlc_a-main.o libaxvlc_a-utils.o libaxvlc_a-olecontrol.o libaxvlc_a-oleinplaceactiveob...

Questions to gui development...

Dear Sir: I'm trying to do some modification on the GUI to add some private features and hope it works on the skinnable interface. Before that, I shall ask some qustions for clarifications. 1.1) In VLC, the skinnable interface and wxWidget interface are two independent modules, aren't they? So skin ...

Temporary solution to this problem

After several tials, I found it is due to the configure options --enable-mozilla --with-mozilla-sdk-path=/usr/win32/gecko-sdk not enabled in my configure line which is the default! The annoying problem disappears after the options are added. This may not the truely cause if someone succeed to make p...

May I ask for the official building process information?

Dear Sir: There are sevel ways to build VLC on Windows as described in the documents. However, I can't still build a version as stable as the official release one! There's alway some kind of annoying/strange problems. I think the simplest way is to take the same official steps rather than spend time...
