Re: RTSP streaming to Darwin

Thank for the reply and info. Any suggestions where to post a question for this? FWIW: The only reason I am using darwin is that it works through NAT'd firewall, ie: it allows me to set a fixed server IP for the remote client, instead of using the translated source (and my firewall doesn't do fixups...

RTSP streaming to Darwin

I am streaming a file from vlc to a darwin server. But I can't seem to get the transcoding right (I am guessing that's the problem). This is the vlc stream I am generating: cvlc -vvv --color "/nas/Videos/Capture.mpg" --sout '#transcode{venc=ffmpeg{keyint=1},vcodec=mp4v,vb=100k,acodec=mp4a,...

Re: streaming webcam MPEG-TS and vbv

I am using the GUI interface, and this is what it generates for the output string: :sout=#transcode{vcodec=mp2v,vb=800,scale=1,acodec=none}:duplicate{dst=http{mux=ts,dst=:8080/finny},dst=display} :sout-keep . FWIW: If I run this transcoding in a commdline (with cvlc) it works. I don't get any vbv e...

streaming webcam MPEG-TS and vbv

I'm trying to stream a webcam (via http) encoding it to MPEG-TS (no audio). But I keep getting errors about either vbv too small, or no vbv specified. I had no problems with this with an older version (1.1.12 The Luggage). Now I am using 2.0.4 TwoFlower. I am using the GUI interface, and this is wha...

streaming from behind firewall w/ rtsp

I would like to stream video (from webcams) to the internet. The apps that are used on the WAN (internet) expect rtsp. I have read in a few places this is not possible for vlc (rtsp behind firewall). Is that fact? If it is not, could someone please give me an example, including the ports that need t...

Re: webcam no longer works - "invalid tuner"

Setting the tuner frequency to -1 doesn't work, since the first problem is that it is looking for tuner id 0, which doesn't exist. Not really... the error message is either generated in the code for setting the frequency or the audio mode of the tuner. Both code blocks are skipped if the respective...

Re: webcam no longer works - "invalid tuner"

Hi, I have had the same problem with the latest version from git, but the problem is also present in the Debian squeeze standard vlc version (1.1.3). I found a workaround, if not a solution. It Requires recompilation of the v4l2.c access module. Here is a diff from git: <...snip...> The problem see...

Re: webcam no longer works - "invalid tuner"

This message appears because you have configured a tuning frequency. You need to keep the frequency to zero if you have no tuner. First, thank you for the response. I do appreciate this and any other help I can get. But... where do I configure a tuning frequency? Is that in vlc? I will presume so, ...

Re: webcam no longer works - "invalid tuner"

I haven't gotten any more responses to this, and vlc still won't play any of my webcams. Mplayer works fine. An older version, on Fedora 12, works (v1.0.6 "Golden Eye"). This version, on Fedora 14, doesn't. Here is the opening verbose output: [ken@Bugs ~]$ vlc -vvv VLC media player 1.1.9 T...

Re: webcam no longer works - "invalid tuner"

What was your previous version.? Not sure, since this was upgraded via yum. I'd have to try to rollback to the previous version. I know that the v1.0.6 "Golden Eye" version worked. That version also works on an FC12 installation I have running. Apparently there is no update to "Lugga...

webcam no longer works - "invalid tuner"

I just got the updated package from FC14 repository: VLC media player 1.1.9 The Luggage (revision exported . Now my webcam no longer works. In the output messages I get: [0xb655dc64] v4l2 access debug: opening device '/dev/video0' [0xb655dc64] v4l2 access debug: V4L2 device: Logitech QuickCam Pro 30...
