As I said, streaming video files for VOD with FMES, VLC or anything else, is probably useless. Use a http server. Jean, I don't want to be a pain but can you explain why i.e fmes would be useless. You're telling me to use http server but can you be more specific like what os and what to use to embe...

Why don't you juste use lighttpd or apache for video serving of VOD?

Debian. Thx, So my question now would be how VLC w/debian would be capable of holding aprox 1000 VOD content and aprox 4 broadcast streams. Will VLC be able to hold on with it or should I be looking for something else i.e Adobe Flash Media Enterprise Server 4 Please advise, Thank you in advance, DK

also what kind of formats lighty uses I've read that only these two which is minimum:

Formats: flv, mp4*

Did anybody tried adobe FMS??

Friend, From what I know you will need two servers. Website server which will work as the face and the video server where all the sterams will be located. Since you are webdesigner you should be fine with web server so you have to work on video which should not be your web server *must be seperate. ...

hey Lork,

I am a noob as well but from what I've read this is doable. You just basically will use vlc to create either broadcast stream or ondemand where clients on your web will be able to watch it. As far as usage I don't know. Good luck

1. If you need real security, you have to use HTTPS or similar encrypted transfer method with proper authentication. Leave the address field empty. That way it should bind to all addresses.
I was able to work this out w/ the router turn off. My question would be how can I have my router on and still stream on the web using my ip.

small update:
after i've changed the ip to my router defaul the HTTP stream is working i mean "streaming" BUT now how would I go about getting this stream to go outside my lan so others can watch it?!?!?
