thanks, is it possible to install without KDE using rpm package. I mean each time when i install a package it will say that dependency QT4..... blah blah blah stuff.
can VLC install without gnome or KDE, i mean i want to install it as a server, without graphical interface, because graphical interface will use a lot of RAM.

I'm using mandriva 2006, i586 pc. I start a video streaming using VLC wizard -> choose file -> http streaming.... after that i open firefox and type http://127.0.0.1:8080 but i can't get the video. what should i do to make it works? (I have install vlc plug in for irefox) I follow web manual and did...
I'm not clear about the streaming output. is it using MPEG_TS? for an example, my input file is MPEG4 (Xvid) is it convert to MPEG_TS after that send it out through ETHERNET?
I use VLS before to stream DVD, but the quality is not good comepare to VLC. why?
