Couldn't find any settings that reffer to alpha or overlay

When using vlc in desktop mode, every windows element (Icons, windows etc.) that has an alpha channel shows opaque.

Is there a way to enable alpha blanding? is it a VLC thing or an XP thing (no alpha blending over video)

In full screen mode, when showing the interface using the "Show interface with mose" option, the inter face stays on screen.
There should be an option for it to disapear in X sconds.

In the preferences, it's sometimes a real pain to use the baloon-tips as an "on-line help", they tend to disapear too fast.
I think there should be a "Help" button for every submenu, or a "Whats this?" Right click context menu that shows you the relevant help for an item.

I join this feature request.

In winamp it's one of the most usefull features.

No need to stop whatever you do and put the players' window in focus to play/stop/change volume etc, just press a hotkey (in winamp they are all alt+ctrl+<key>) and continue your work.
