Re: Cannot rotate .mp4 video (Windows 10)

I have no problem converting audio files (for example, .m4a to .mp3) so I'm not sure why video conversion doesn't work. Anyone?

Cannot rotate .mp4 video (Windows 10)

I have a super-short video (3 seconds) in .mp4 format that was, unfortunately, shot with the camera 90 degrees off from what makes good viewing. I found a ton of walkthroughs on the Interwebz that tell how you can supposedly do a geometry transform with VLC. Goes something like: 1) set transform opt...

Error resuming playback after computer sleeps (Windows 7)

There seems to be a problem with resuming playback of media which was paused before the system went to sleep. Upon waking the system, when I try to un-pause playback, it goes for a few seconds (presumably, this is the amount cached in RAM or something to that effect), then stops, with an error windo...

VLC crashes every time it's used (Linux Mint 12)

I don't know whether this is really a VLC problem or a Linux Mint 12 problem, but for the last week or so, I am unable to use VLC Media Player at all. Every time I try to play something, whether it's an *.iso on a local disk or Samba share, an *.avi on a local disk, or an *.mkv file (haven't tried *...

Re: VLC can't play properly ISO from a SMB share

Couldn't you simply mount the *.iso as a local disk, using the method outlined above?

It works if the *.iso is stored on a local volume, so I don't see why it wouldn't work with an *.iso hosted on a Samba share.

Re: VLC can't play properly ISO from a SMB share

I have a related question. I run VLC Media Player 1.1.12 on Linux Mint 12. Very often, I use VLC on the Linux Mint 12 machine, to play DVDs that are stored as .iso files on a Windows 7 machine, over the LAN. Sometimes, playback will freeze completely, and VLC appears to crash. In Mint 12, I have to ...

Re: DVD subtitles don't display correctly

You may be correct in making that statement about the VLC dev team, but I can assure you that DVD playback is of great concern to your users. I cannot recommend VLC Media Player to friends and family as long as it does not support subtitles correctly. No one wants to either miss what's being said in...

Re: DVD subtitles don't display correctly

So it's called "Forced Subtitles." Thanks, good to know. Is there some extraordinary difficulty in implementing this feature? It's rather important for DVD playback. I'd much rather use VLC for everything, but I've been resorting to Windows Media player + mounting DVD images with Daemon To...

DVD subtitles don't display correctly

I watch DVDs mainly by directly playing *.iso images of the DVDs in VLC Media Player. It is a lot more convenient than having to fool with a DVD drive emulator, mounting/unmounting images etc. which would be required to use other media players. However, DVD subtitles don't work properly. They will o...

Re: out-of-sync a/v using pulseaudio

I had no problems whatsoever using VLC in Ubuntu with PulseAudio for a long time, but as of a few weeks ago, BIG problem. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 with all current updates & patches. It was hard to notice at first, but it works something like this: Video and audio will slowly get out of sync as...
