match playlist to an EPG

with more and more TV being delivered via multicast(iptv) it would be really slick to be able to integrate an EPG (like zap2it) with the multicast ip playlist

zap2it + vlc

with more and more tv being delivered via multicast, has anyone started developing a way to map an EPG (zap2it for instance) to the multicast channels?

you'd have to multicast each channel, and just have the hardware capable of supporting that many streams

you'll have to experiment to find out how many instances of VLC you can run at once

any ideas?

0.8.4a can join the TV multistream
0.8.5 cannot join the TV multistream

0.8.4a as well as 0.8.5 can join the udp stream from the pvrbox running 0.8.4a

oh

I should add, that this is only on the PVRbox/streamer

the box that's tapping into the resulting UDP stream can use either 0.8.4a or 0.8.5

0.8.4a able to re-stream multicast/dshow 0.8.5 can't

Background: My TV is delivered over DSL via joining multicast streams with a settop box inserting a hub between the modem and the STB enables me to have a PC in the loop, and join the multicast channels manually with VLC. I can then take that stream, and redirect anywhere in my network with VLC I've...

yes - this a pretty amazing. Does anybody know when watching a video stream the quality in VLC is not as good as in Windows Media player? Also, has anybody tried to stream live TV over the internet? Yup it's possible, but you need huge upload bandwidth to make it feasible a 320x240(mpeg) stream tak...

I'm having the exact same problem (xp pro machine) I found --iface <string> which seems to be the right option, but I'm apparently screwing up the syntax I'm also assuming that I probably need to add it to the shortcut that launches VLC? "E:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf wx is...
